Group Discussions or popularly know as GD are now an important part of the recruitment process for Banks, Government, and Private organization and even in admission in top MBA colleges. GDs are conducted to analyze a person’s behaviour among other peoples. GDs have proved their usefulness to the company or organization. Group discussion is a process of elimination the least suited candidate.
Tips for cracking GD
- Start reading newspaper – select at least two newspapers of your choice and make a habit of reading them daily. By reading them you will know a different point of view about the same story and this will eventually develop you to see a topic with many different points of view.
- Dress smartly you should wear a formal dress. It is important that you feel comfortable in that dress otherwise it will be of no use.
- Don’t shout – there is no point in forcing your views across. Put across your views in a gentle and polite manner.
- To the point – In GDs you will find that you have to grab a chance to speak and if you waste that chance in beating around some irrelevant point then you will not be doing any good to yourself.
- Keep a check of your body language – your body language reveals a lot of details about you. Make sure you sit in a normal manner, neither casual nor very rigid, just sit comfortably but don’t lean on the chair. Know more about correct body language for Group Discussions.
