Each and every step during the interview is very important and leaving the selection hall is not an exception to that as it also non-verbally communicates a great deal of information about you.
Once you get the signal from the interviewer to leave the interview room, then what you need to do is get up from the chair with head high and chest upraised.
Getting up from the chair: – While getting up from the chair doesn’t shake or move the chair, don’t be in a hurry just slowly stand up in an upright position. Don’t look at the floor or any other object in the room as this signifies you are not confident, make a proper eye contact with the interviewer.
Hand Shake: – If the interviewer offers a handshake then respond with a firm handshake otherwise don’t initiate a handshake by yourself. Know the proper way of a handshake.
Say Thanks: – It’s a good gesture to say thanks to the interviewer as he has given you his time and opportunity to showcase your skills. Many candidates start showering their love to the interviewer in the end, please keep in mind buttering is not required just a thanks will do it.
Don’t look back: – Once you are done with thanks and handshake (if offered) then exit the door with your face towards the door in an upright position, never look back or try to hear what the interviewers are talking, doing this is not considered as a good etiquette and might break the deal for you.
Closing the Door: – Generally, the doors will be automatically closing ones, but even in those don’t dash it while leaving. At times the interview doesn’t go well and you could be in a bad mood, but please understand there is no mistake of the door, in that case, no need to display your anger to the Interviewers because it could be part of the interview also they might want to know how will you respond to a heated argument.
Also, keep in mind that sometimes the doors are marked Push/Pull and due to nervousness you might do the exact opposite of that.
