Nowadays the HR and the recruiting agencies are going one step further and they are checking various non-verbal signals to judge the suitability of a candidate for a particular post.
One of the prominent or in fact the most important non-verbal signals that you transmit is through your eyes. You might have heard the old saying “Eyes Don’t Lie”, this saying is very much relevant at present time and is widely used in various selection procedures. Not just for interviews, the singles from the eyes are even used to solve various criminal cases also and to one’s surprise even hardcore criminal is unable to fool these signals.
Since we can’t fake our eyes while telling lies and the trained officials could easily able to identify this. There are six things in eye movements of a man, So, today let’s discuss various signals of eye moment:-
Visual Remembrance
Position of Eyeballs – Eyeballs in the top left corner of the eyes.
Details- When you remember an event or information that happened in your life in terms of situation or scenes then your eyeballs automatically shit to the top left corner of the eyes. During an interview, the interviewer asks you “tell me an incident where you have shown leadership”. If you have really shown some leadership in past situation then while recalling the situation your eyeballs will move to the top left corner of the eyes.
Auditory Remembrance
Position of Eyeballs – Eyeballs in extreme left corner
Details- There is not much difference in Auditory Remembrance from Visual Remembrance. Here you are trying to recall a voice/music/audio from the past that you have heard. This signal is used to verify the statement of criminals, there is not much use of this in an Interview.
Self-thinking
Position of Eyeballs – Eyeball in left extreme down
Details- When you think of something on your own and there is no previous record of that then while thinking your eyeball moves to left extreme down. During an interview this is one of the important signals that an interviewer gets, he/she may ask what you think about a particular topic and the movement of your eyeballs will tell him/her whether you are thinking on your own or telling something that you already know.
Visual Imagination
Position of Eyeballs – Eyeballs on top right
Details- When you are visually imagining a situation then you eyeballs go to the top right part of your eyes. During an interview, the interviewer gives you a situation but this will be a made up situation and not something that you already experienced.
Audio Imagination
Position of Eyeballs – Extreme right
Details- This is a great technique to catch liers. When one lies the eyeballs goes to the extreme right position.
Recalling a feeling
Position of eyeballs- Extreme Right down
Details – When you recall a feeling of past then your eyeballs move into extreme right down.
