Aeronautical Engineering Branch – Indian Air Force

Indian Air Force (IAF) provides a glorious career opportunity to technical graduates. IAF has Aeronautical Engineering Course (AEC) and these courses are further divided in Electronics and Mechanical.

Both Men and Women are applicable for Aeronautical Engineering Branch, however, women are given Short Service Commission. Check for which entry you are applicable.

General Eligibility

Age – 20 to 26 Years.
Nationality – Indian
Gender – Men and Women
Marital Status – Candidates below the age of 25 years should be unmarried

UES (University Entry Scheme)

Gender Male only
Educational Qualification – The candidate must be currently studying in Pre-final year of BE / B.Tech degree course with the choice of subject as mentioned above. There must be No backlog/arrears of papers of previous semesters at the time of SSB Testing. On completion of the degree, minimum 60% of marks in aggregate in all papers put together are mandatory.

AEC (Aeronautical Engineering Course)

Gender Male and Female.
Educational Qualification – Candidate Must have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all the papers put together in any one of the qualifications listed. Final year students are eligible to apply provided they do not have any present backlog at the time of SSB testing and they produce provisional/ original degree issued by the University as per the date stipulated in the advertisement.

Educational Qualifications for Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics)

  1. Four-year degree qualification from a recognized University
    OR
    Passed Section A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India)
    OR
    Passed Section A and B examination of Aeronautical Society of India
    OR
    Graduate membership examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies
  2. It is mandatory that applicant should have studied at least eight subjects out of the list of eighteen subjects mentioned while pursuing the above-mentioned qualifications – Physics / Engineering Physics, Mathematics / Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Graphics / Drawing, Electrical Technology / Electrical Engineering, Microprocessors, Control Engineering, Digital / Basic Electronics, Information Technology, Computer Networks, Network Theory Design, Electronic Circuit Design, Telecommunication Systems, Radar Theory, Instrumentation, Switching Theory, Microwave Engineering, Electronic Devices and Antenna and Wave Propagation.

Educational Qualifications for Aeronautical Engineering (Mechanical)

  1. Four-year degree qualification from a recognized university
    OR
    Passed Section A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India)
    OR
    Passed section A and B examination of Aeronautical Society of India
  2. It is mandatory that applicant should have studied at least eight subjects out of the list of eighteen subjects mentioned while pursuing the above-mentioned qualifications – Physics / Engineering Physics, Mathematics / Engineering Maths, Engineering Drawing / Graphics, Industrial Engineering / Plant Engineering / Automotive Engineering, Engineering Mechanics / Aerodynamics, Strength of Material, Thermodynamics and Applications / Heat Power Engineering, Heat and Mass Transfer, Theory of Machines (Kinematics and Dynamics of Machinery), Turbo Machines / Fluid Mechanics, Flight Mechanics, Machine Design / Machine Drawing, Material Science / Metallurgy, Mechatronics, Vibrations, Workshop Technology / Production Engineering / Manufacturing Technology, Aircraft Structures and Hydraulics and Pneumatic.
