Proper way to walk inside the room before Interview

The first steps you will take before an starting any Interview is walking inside the room in which the interviewer is sitting. This is a very critical moment because the interviewer will have his first impression about you and this could make or break the deal.

So let’s go step by step and discuss everything in detail.

Seek Permission to enter: – this is not your dad’s room, you must seek permission to enter the room. If the door is closed then gently knock on the door and wait for 5 seconds and then open the door to seek permission.

Tone or the manner to Seek permission

Ask with a good tone, the tone must not be too high or too low. Ask confidently, May I come in Sir/Ma’am (not Madam).

If the door is already open then look at the interviewer and seek permission to enter. While seeking the permission stand straight and look at the interviewer not at the fan or floor. No need to put your hand parallel to ground as you might be taught during school days. If the permission is granted then enter in the room otherwise keep standing outside.

Walking Inside the room

After getting the permission, enter the room with confidence, walk with head high, upraised chest and shoulders. Stand near to the chair designated for you or the interviewer might tell you where you need to sit. Don’t sit until the interviewer asks you or grants you permission to sit. Most probably you will get permission to sit on the chair, always say thanks to the interviewer for letting you sit on the chair.

Where to put your hands in an interview

Don’t keep your hands into pockets while entering the room, keep your hands in relaxed position, better if you keep them in attention position but not too rigid. While sitting on the chair you can keep your hands on your Thai.

Points to keep in mind

  • Never walk with your head facing ground as it signifies that you are nervous and panicking.
  • You must not walk in a casual or arrogant manner. Your body language must speak that you want that job or position.
  • You must have seen your favorite star arranging the button of his shirt while going to receive an award. You should avoid this, all the things that need to be arranged should have been done already.
  • If you are wearing a watch then don’t keep looking at that, it shows you are nervous and not comfortable.
