SSB Interview Do you have it in you?
What will you do if you are not selected this time? This is one of the most asked questions in an Interview be it for job, admission or any other kind of interview.
Many candidates answer this question saying that he/she will come again and get selected. Friends, there is nothing wrong in saying that but today we will give you some other insight so that you can frame your answer accordingly.
What does the Interviewer want to know by this question?
The interviewer will get to know how you handle failure, whether you lose your control after any failure or you are completely unmoved by that. No one wants to hire any person who wastes too much time thinking about any failure and no one also wants a person who is completely unaffected by failure, you must be in the somewhere middle.
Another important thing that interviewer will get to know is how passionate you are about that particular job or course or Interview.
How to answer this question?
Here we will just suggest you an answer and thereafter explain about various components of that answer. You can add or remove from the answer as per your needs or understanding. You can politely say
Sir/Ma’am, I am confident that I will get selected this time. However if for any reason this doesn’t happen then I will analyze my performance and find out what were the shortcomings in me that led to my rejection. Thereafter I will work hard to remove those shortcomings and will appear again to get selected.
Simply saying I will come back and get selected will not work. You are already there what difference will it make when you come again you have to mention that difference and there has to be a reason why you are not selected.
One of the important things is that if you have been asked this question then don’t feel that you are not selected because it is part of the Interview. This question puts you under pressure and your real character comes out only under pressure. Don’t start thinking that you are not selected. The result is not declared yet how can you drop your weapons before the war is not over. So by the first line of the answer, we tell the interviewer that you have perseverance and will fight till the end. The war is still on and you have neither declared a winner nor a loser. So if one asks you, you should be confided of yourself that you will get selected in this attempt only.
By the simple answer above it reflects that one approaches logically to any problem. First, you analyze then you take any action, this shows your analytical ability.
What in reality will someone do if he/she is not selected?
Friends, if you are passionate about any job, admission or interview then for sure if you are not selected in one attempt then you will go back and improve yourself to get selected. For sure you will do and you have to do all the things that we included in our answer but the only problem with many of us is that we are unable to completely explain ourselves to others. (Especially under pressure)
What if Interviewer cross questions?
At times interviewer may cross question that it will take “x” Years for you to appear again in this interview what you will do till then. This question becomes important if you are applying for a job in a company. If this happens with you then answer what your future plans are but make sure that your future plans are like a ladder which will help you to get selected in that company.
Let’s say for example you are applying for a job in which very good communication skills are required and in the interview, you have been asked this question.
Then keeping other things same as suggested in the answer above you can say I will join a call center job which will help me to improve my communication skills and will help me financially also.
Please understand that this answer will change based on the interview in which you are appearing. You can’t everywhere say you will join call center, for some companies/colleges you may be required to take additional training or coaching so you have to use your wit and answer this question.
