The NDA (National Defence Academy) and NA (Naval Academy) exams are competitive entrance exams conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in India for recruitment into the Indian Armed Forces, specifically for candidates wishing to join the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Eligibility:

• Age: Candidates must be between 16.5 to 19.5 years old at the time of commencement of the course.
• Qualification: Candidates must have completed or be appearing for the 12th grade. For the Army, any stream (Arts/Science/Commerce) is acceptable. For the Navy and Air Force, candidates must have studied Physics and Mathematics as subjects in their 12th grade.

Stages of the Exam:

• Written Exam: This includes two papers:
  • Mathematics (300 marks)
  • General Ability Test (GAT) (600 marks) – includes English, General Knowledge (Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography, Current Events, etc.)
• SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates from the written exam are called for the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview, which assesses their psychological fitness, physical endurance, and leadership potential.
• Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the SSB interview undergo a medical examination.
